Capsule wardrobe: the only pieces you need in your work wardrobe

Time for a pop quiz!

A) Are you struggling to get ready for work every morning?

B) Are you finding that top doesn't go with those pants?

C) Are you staring blankly at your wardrobe and nothing is happening?

If you answered yes to one or all of these questions, you're suffering from a serious case of nothing-to-wearitis. But don't worry, there's a solution. We're going to strip it down, take it back to basics and hit reset on your workwear. How? It's called a capsule wardrobe - a handful of versatile, interchangeable items that can be mixed and matched to your heart's content.

Your Capsule Wardrobe
Your capsule wardrobe can always slightly differ to someone else's, because of your own personal style (maybe you wear dresses almost everyday, or absolutely hate wearing pants!) but try to use this one as a guide:

Dresses x 2 - a black one and a printed one
Jackets x 2-3 - include a longer coat, short jacket and a tailored vest
Tops x 3 - such as crisp shirts, shell tops, blouses and lace tops for desk-to-dinner purposes
Pants x 2 - a flare or wide-leg trouser, plus a cigarette pant will give you options
Skirts x 2 - a black one and something a bit more fun. Don't be afraid to play with your lengths!
Basics - ensure your wardrobe has a few good quality tees, singlets and tights
Accessories - finish your look with black and brown handbags and shoes that go with everything!

Six Outfits to Get You Started

The whole point of a capsule wardrobe is that all of the pieces can be worn together, so you never run out of outfits, but here are six of my favourite combinations to get you started... with some beautiful optical glasses from OPSM to complete the look!
