Westfield Liverpool is an active member of the local community and takes pride in contributing to many local organisations, as well as supporting our local charity partner, The Shepherd Centre.
We also provide opportunities for local charitable organisations to drive awareness of their work within the centre.
The Shepherd Centre
Our partnership with The Shepherd Centre aims to assist the charity achieve their goals through a wide variety of projects that include GiveAbility Day.
Over the last four years, GiveAbility Day has enabled Westfield centres to raise awareness and contribute over $1.4m in funds, providing much needed therapy programs, respite services and specialised equipment for local families of children living with disabilities.
What The Shepherd Centre Does
The Shepherd Centre has been changing the face of services for children’s hearing loss in Sydney and wider NSW, as well as the ACT; providing children with hearing loss with the tools they need to learn to listen and speak. Their Early Intervention program is world-renowned for its results – more than 90 per cent of children with hearing loss who graduate from our program attend school with listening and language skills on par with those of their hearing peers. It costs more than $18,000 per year per child to provide these critical services, without which many hearing impaired and deaf children may not be able to enter mainstream schooling and achieve the future they deserve.
