Pure Paisley - The hottest trends to steal from VAMFF
Diverse models, sartorial magic, and three days of catwalks. This year’s Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), despite being cut short, left plenty of inspiration for our Autumn / Winter wardrobe. The theme this year? Overt drama. From bold metallics to over-the-top sleeves, we’re all over the unapologetic excess that strutted down the runway. And because fashion should always be fun, Celeste Barber’s appearance at the Harper’s BAZAAR runway proved a comical treat amongst what is usually a sea of stern faces.
One of our favourite trends from this year’s VAMFF, available to shop at your nearest Westfield, is the elegant and whimsical paisley print.
We know patterns have an air of summery festivity, but they’re also a viable option for adding a splash of joie de vivre to any Autumn / Winter ensemble. And if florals are a bit too whimsical and girly for your style, we suggest the ever-prevailing paisley print.
If there’s one print that endures actual centuries of trends and hype, it’s paisley. Every style icon has donned this iconic print since it’s invention in the 1600s. From sultans to ancient babylonians and The Beatles in the 60s, paisley has always kept a high profile in the fashion circuit. And if it’s good enough for rock icons and international royalty, it’s good enough for us, so embrace for work, for brunch or the bar and beyond.
Today, paisley oozes boho vibes, but can be dressed up and down. Country Road, Portmans and Forever New have you sorted with flowing, long-sleeved dresses, best paired with boots and bare legs if you can brave it.
