Celebrating Royal Donuts

The smell of delicious cinnamon donuts has been wafting throughout our centre, tempting our customers for almost 40 years thanks to Royal Donuts.

Established in 1980 by owner Con Scopas and his family, this long-standing institution has been a hit with locals and visitors to Westfield Knox for decades.

Con says his customers have become an extension of his family over the years, many whom have visited since they were kids, and now return with youngsters of their own.

“I love the centre and the area; it’s full of very good people”, Con said.

John, Con’s son also says a lot of people who have moved out of the area, have continued to return to visit the store.

“We find all the time they will come here because of their positive experiences and they want to show their kids”, John said.

“We even had a customer come from Texas – when he comes to Australia he always makes sure he visits the shop to say hello.”

Cinnamon donuts have been their speciality for years. The store even has a regular customer who drives all the way from Sunshine just to buy them.

Royal Donuts is also known for their birthday donut cakes. “We make them fresh on the day and customise them for the customer” John said. “We get people from the country who drive for two hours to come and get them”.

John said that the freshness of their products and good old-fashioned customer service is the key to the store’s longevity.

“I believe if you put a smile on someone’s face at the start to the day, that can make their whole day” he said.

John says “Our recipe hasn’t changed, we haven’t tried to cut corners. We start at 3am seven days a week and we don’t sell any of yesterday's stock the next day”.
“We thank our customers because without them we wouldn’t be here”.
