Meet our new stylist
We’re excited to introduce you to our new Westfield Stylist, Emelia Morris.
We caught up with Emelia to find out more about her love of styling:
My name is Emelia Morris, I’m the face behind Emelia Morris Stylist
It might be obvious, but I really love fashion. Although that’s not always been the case, it’s something that has evolved over time. But now, I love clothes! And they have definitely become an extension of who I am.
How did this happen? I had a bit of a lightbulb moment one day.
I already knew that the right clothing had the ability to make people feel confident, to give them ‘feel good’ moments, as well as tell the story of someone or give a glimpse into their personality without even having to say a word.
Clothing made me feel empowered, so I wanted to help others not only feel great but look great too.
So, I took a leap of faith a few years ago became a qualified personal and fashion stylist With the Australian Style Institute. Now I help my clients to feel confident and empowered in their own personal style and wardrobe, and there is honestly nothing I’d rather do!
What got you into styling?
I haven’t always wanted to be a stylist. There was a time where I was unsure of fashion, my personal style, where to shop, what looked good. In fact, I felt intimidated by it all and I used to dread going shopping. One day I’d had enough, and I decided to take back control. I wanted to live a life where I felt confident, to understand my personal style and say yes to the opportunities I’d been missing out on. I shifted my mindset and that was a really pivotal moment for me. Clothes became my armour, my way to communicate with others without saying a word, building my confidence in fashion that not only looked good, but ‘felt’ good too. It was life changing to experience so many feel good moments with a simple mindset shift.
I’ve come such a long way and now I’m lucky enough to help my clients do the same so they can experience their own feel-good moments on a day-to-day basis – and I couldn’t think of anything I’d rather do and now I want to help you experience those feel-good moments too
Describe your style: My style is constantly evolving, but at the moment I would say 'classic, colourful and feminine'
What were you doing before styling? I have worked in the public sector over the past 10 years. Styling is definitely a contrast to working for the Government and allows me to be creative.
When did you know you wanted to be a stylist? I’ve been curious for a while about the fashion industry and loved putting looks together outfits myself. But it wasn’t until around 3 or so years ago that I knew that I wanted to help others experience those feel-good moments too.
Who are your style icons & why? Fashion Blogger/Influencer Blaire Eadie. I love Blair’s sense of style so much; she is sophisticated but in a way that is also playful. If I only I could just have one day in her wardrobe…..
I should also mention Princess Diana – she was so effortlessly stylish. Lady Di, wasn’t afraid to push the boundaries when it came to styling her looks. Like Blair, she oozes style and sophistication, but also had fun with her looks by wearing lots of colour, mixing prints and she always looked smart in a hat.
What do you enjoy about styling? I love the human connection that I have with my clients and that I get to assist them in exploring and defining their personal own style. I am definitely in the happy business that’s for sure. I am lucky that I get to play a small part in that.
What are your favourite stores at Westfield Geelong? Country Road, Seed, Jo Mercer and Hype
