Deck the halls: Christmas decoration ideas for any style

Christmas doesn’t have to be done by the book. If red and gold and sparkly baubles make you want to hit snooze until February, resist the temptation to write yourself off as a green-tinged grinch. Find the yuletide style you and your halls will be proud to welcome in, with Christmas decor done three different ways.

The polished entertainer

Elegant and opulent, your Christmas is all about adding classic luxury. Your place is probably sparkling with well-placed glints of silver and gold, but try adding some opposing rugged texture via a Christmas wreath or bold wire table decorations.

If mini red-cloaked men have been adorning your place since October (Halloween what?), you are a festive devotee who wouldn’t hear of decking the halls with anything less than strict Christmas fanfare. Red is always going to be the cheery mainstay of your tableware and you also probably favour the whimsy of a good reindeer, angel or elf ornament.

If bar lights, hashtag slogans and references to magestic creatures (unicorn motifs, I’m looking at you) make your habitat a home, your Christmas style probably acts as one pretty major yearly DIY experiment.

Try a wall Christmas tree made of draped lights, ornaments or decorative plates. Short on space? Grab an unsuspecting houseplant and a gold pot and give it the yuletide treatment.
