Step 6. Make the royal icing by beating egg whites with a mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the icing sugar and beat until thick.
Step 7. Place half of the royal icing into a piping bag and use it to decorate the individual parts of the house before you construct it. Get creative with roof tiles, window details and doors. While the icing is wet, you can also stick lollies on for extra colour. Leave to dry/harden.
Step 8. Use the remaining icing to join the walls together. Use objects such as glasses or cans to support the walls until the icing dries (allow half an hour). Once the walls are dry, attach the roof using the same method (allow plenty of support while drying).
Step 9. Now that your house it constructed, you can add the finer details. Use any leftover icing to create the look of snow on your display stand. Add your gingerbread men and trees to the display and stick on any extra lollies you'd like on the house (gumdrops, licorice, peppermints, jelly beans and smarties work well!).
