Winter, it's definitely one of my favourite seasons for food. It's that chance to indulge in all those dishes that your soul needs.
Whether it's a big rich bowl of pasta that can hug you from within, a big fragrant lamb roast shared amongst friends and family or a warm, comforting bowl of homemade butter chicken that is slightly too spicy but can be cooled down with a freshly made garlic naan and a side of riata; there is no doubt Winter is a great time to slow down and enjoy these comfort foods.
There is something about a deep red rich pasta homemade sauce that has been bubbling away on the stove for hours on end, developing complex flavours that you just can't get from a jar. As it smothers itself over freshly made tagliatelle and a fresh shaving of a sharp bitey parmesan cheese. Slurping it down curled up on a couch by the fire.
One of my favourite ways to have a roast is down by the farm, taking in the crisp Winter air, and coming inside to the intense smell of lamb, roasted hasselback potatoes and root vegetables. Bringing it out to the table for everyone to tear into. The best part about lamb roast is making sandwiches the next day with the leftovers!
