Generally speaking, Australia is a nation of milk based coffee beverage drinkers, with the Cappuccino, Café Latte and world famous ‘Flat White’ amongst the most popular choices. A standard size (approximately 8 oz or 230 ml) of either of these beverages would start with a 30ml espresso shot as the base in the cup or glass, depending on the coffee beverage being made, and have an amount of ‘textured’ milk added to it. The ratio of milk to coffee would determine the beverages strength. Cappuccinos tend to exhibit a little more strength due to their proportion of froth in the cup, whereas Cafe Lattes are a little weaker due to their slightly lower coffee to milk ratio.
Have a sweet tooth? Stir in a heaped spoon of rich chocolate and convert a café latte to a Mocha Latte. Add a pump or two of quality syrup and enhance your cappuccino with caramel, vanilla, almonds or hazelnut flavours. Feeling extravagant? Try a Vienna Coffee by adding some whipped cream to your Doppio or an Affogato, with a shot of espresso over a scoop of ice-cream.
As you can see, the coffee menu is a great opportunity to explore and expand our senses. It’s a chance to try something new. What will you try next?
