Originally from WA, Sara started her career in advertising before becoming a fan favourite on MasterChef. Sara is now based in Melbourne and following her food dreams. She was recently chef at the renowned, foodie favourite, The Kettle Black and is currently the ambassador for the Queen Victoria Market.
“I love Melbourne’s food scene because everyone is a bit of a critic. We have a really high standard of food and service here which drives healthy competition, creativity and great food everywhere you go. It's hard to have a bad meal in Melbourne!”
Sara’s love for food came from her Mother and Grandparent’s, a pre-requisite, she says, of her Italian background.
“Growing up I never saw mum with a cookbook and on the odd occasion I did, it was more to draw inspiration from the images...she taught me to cook with whatever I had on hand which means I feel comfortable being spontaneous in the kitchen.”
When asked about her food ethos, Sara said “Food should move you in a way nothing else can. A great dish can tease your curiosity, ignite the senses, evoke forgotten memories and spark your imagination all in one bite.”
