Three years ago, I was appointed Grand Chief Bridesmaid at my sister’s wedding so naturally I had to stand out on stage, er, at the altar. I found a beautiful gold and black art deco necklace and wrapped it around my head – it was perfect and I received a ton of compliments. Back then, head chains were yet to hit the scene so I was way ahead of my time. Also, I’m pretty sure I singlehandedly started the trend. Snaps to me.
Three years on and I’m still a fan of the head chain, particularly from Mimco. (This one is the Mimco Casablanca Head Chain.) They are great for a special night out, but as my personal style is more boy than girl, I bring mine into broad daylight and add a big dose of street with a paint-splattered denim vest, black mesh and a steely stare for today’s OOTD.
As always, my hair and makeup help complete my outfit. To create my messy Lara Bingle-inspired waves, I washed my hair before spritzing L’Oreal Professionnel Horizon Fix onto my roots so it dried with extra volume. Once dry, I used the Kate by Halo Hair Straightener to create loose waves (don’t forget to brush it out) and then applied L’Oreal Professionnel Super Dust to my roots for even more volume (the name is bang on by the way; it really is Super Dust). Big ups to the Redken Wax Blast 10, a miracle product that acts like spray wax to keep your undone waves perfectly in place. All products available at Hairhouse Warehouse.
For my makeup look, I’m wearing Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius Liquid Cashmere Foundation and My Chemist Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Cherry Kiss (yes, over my whole lip!)
