Alyce: How do we know if we suit skinny, bootleg, flare or straight jeans?
Jeanswest: Skinnies suit everyone! If you’re curvy and want to balance your shape, a slim straight is often a good choice as the fit is still firm through the hip and thigh but a little more relaxed around the ankle. Bootcuts also suit everyone but can be flattering for curves as the wider hem balances out the
Flares and wide legs are particularly good on those who are tall as they can carry off the exaggerated leg profile. If you are shorter, we always recommend wearing a pair of heels or wedges with these jeans as they help to elongate your legs. Straight jeans are flattering for all body types but be careful not to buy them too oversized as this can be unflattering on a fuller figure.
A: We’re in the change room… What are the key points to look for to ensure we’re getting the perfect fit?
J: Your jeans should be firm through the waist, but not so tight that it gives you a muffin top! Most jeans these days are a mid-rise which is suitable for everyone, but you can always try a higher waist if you want to feel more secure. Always check your rear too – a well-placed back pocket will make your bottom look perkier.
A: What colour is most versatile for an everyday, all-occasion jean?
J: Black and dark indigo are the best options as they’re classic, versatile and can be dressed up or down. A mid-indigo wash is also great for casual weekend wear.
