For a long distance run like the City2Surf, City2Sea or City to South, your choice of footwear is a priority to set you up for a good run. You don't want to be thinking about a painful blister or have to stop at the first aid tent, so take the time to ensure you have the right fit.
If you're a regular runner, you'll have a favourite brand already. If you're stepping up your running game, opt for a brand that specialises in running styles, such as Asics, New Balance, Mizuno or Saucony. Look for styles that provide gel cushioning, shock absorption and a lightweight style.
It's best to purchase new runners 6-8 weeks before race day to break them in a little over a couple of long distance training runs.
