Take a walk around your local Westfield centre and you’ll notice a new crop of trends in stores for Autumn Winter 2014. Some of them you will recognise (we sure love our checks and plaids here in Oz!) and some will be entirely new. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be reviewing each trend with my favourite product picks and some tips on how to wear them.
Boudoir is a trend from a few seasons back, when we referred to it as ‘underwear as outerwear’. This season, we’re seeing the trend return with a luxurious look and feel you might find in an opulent vintage dressing room. Think classic Hollywood glamour overflowing with silk, velvet and playful floral prints. Moody black and maroon stay true to the boudoir trend’s roots, while pale pinks and powdery blues give it a softer feminine feel.
My 3 top tips for the Boudoir trend:
Go head-to-toe ‘boudoir’ with a silky slip dress and overcoat or take baby steps by choosing one key piece and giving it a modern edge. A lacy bralet or camisole worn with a sharp blazer always works great!
Ladylike accessories such as nude pumps and a box clutch will finish off your look, or make your shorts and blouse combo a little more ‘boudoir’.
Don’t be afraid to make it your own. Yes, you can toughen a pretty dress with biker boots!
The Katies Westfield Exclusive dress and coat is perfect for this look, check out my street style shoot and how I wear it HERE.
