We’re loving the recent surge of social media beauty trends empowering women and promoting a positive self-image. From the bravery of #YouLookDisgusting to #ThighReading (aka publicly embracing your stretchies à la the gorgeous Chrissy Teigan), beauty taboos are now, more than ever, there for the breaking.
Clown contouring, a technique coined by makeup artist and YouTube star @belladelune, is currently sweeping the web. Her mission; to reinforce that makeup is about fun and self-expression, while sending a message to social meanies who put her down online , saying, “I’ll show you what a real [clown] looks like”! Amen!
So what exactly is clown contouring? Following the traditional rules of contouring, the technique involves using contour makeup and color correctors to create designs that look like clown face paint – before blending it all in for a flawlessly sculpted result. Use dark colours on the edges of the face and under the cheekbones, highlight the areas where light hits, and use coloured cream blushes and concealers to add rosy hues and depth to your face and enhance your natural beauty.
