Here’s a fun fact about me: I always have my nails painted. ALWAYS. I don’t even remember what my real nails look like. So you can imagine my delight when nail art started trending and we were introduced to nail glitter, stickers, foils and wraps. Suddenly, our collections increased from a few old crusty polishes to a whole kit of tools.
These days, nails aren’t just something we do while watching TV on a Sunday night – they’re an art form, a way to express our personalities, the strongest beauty trend of the year and the final piece of our outfit. So why not arrange a night in and have a go at novelty nails or nail art? Check out some of my favourite ways to experiment with the trend, using my personal toolkit above!
Before you get started, give your hands a special treatment by rubbing in the cuticle butter (shown above) to your cuticles and coating your hands in the hand cream (shown above) before popping them into a hot towel for 5-10 minutes.
Paint your nails as normal and while wet, add glitter to the tip before dabbing gradually with a sponge from the Sportsgirl Nail Art Brush Set.
No need to do all the hard work yourself – there are loads of nail wraps, foils and stick-ons that do it for you. These ones are the Priceline House of Holland Nail Set in Geek Chic.
Paint your nails in your favourite shade. When dry, use the dotter tool from the Sportsgirl Nail Art Brush Set to dot on a different colour. Finish off with a top coat.
Paint your nails in one colour, leaving your ring fingers unpolished. Paint these two fingers with a different colour and finish them off with a coat of glitter. Alternatively, paint all fingers with the same shade and coat your two fingers with glitter.
