Kmart: Sundream a Spring/ Summer '22 collection

Kmart , Ground Floor

Inspired by the bold, saturated hues of the Australian summer sky, Kmart’s latest apparel collection ‘Sundream’ – spanning women’s, men’s and kids’ – is set to arrive in stores and online nationwide from Thursday 14 October 2021. A departure from previous seasons’ minimalist aesthetic and neutral tones, Kmart’s approach to Spring/Summer 2022 everyday occasion wear sees bold new prints and colours designed to spark joy and inspire escapism.

In womenswear, Kmart lovers can expect a range that brings both glamour and comfort. Bright blues and sunny oranges and yellows are highlighted in contrast with crisp whites and stylish blacks. Elevated fabrications of breathable cottons, luxurious linen blends, and silky modal and lyocell fibres were designed with versatility in mind, to be dressed up or down. For men, Australiana-inspired prints dominate the collection and emulate the feeling of a tropical holiday, while for kidswear, retro florals pose an unexpected yet exciting use of colour, reflective of the change in season.

Julie Miller Sensini, Kmart’s General Manager of Apparel and Design said, “We are proud to launch Sundream, a collection that incorporates learnings from the past year to infuse happiness into every day. Designed in Australia during lockdown, the use of colour in the range was a key focus alongside textures, patterns and silhouettes aimed at cultivating joy as we begin to emerge from our homes and embrace the warmer weather”.

Kmart’s ongoing commitment to sustainability has also featured heavily in the design process. As a result of Kmart’s Better Together program and collaboration with partners that minimise environmental impact, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose and TENCEL™ modal and lyocell fibres feature in the new Spring/Summer collection with the fabrics made using wood pulp sourced from responsibly managed forests and converted into fibres using less energy and water than conventional methods.

Lucy King, Kmart’s Sustainable Materials Manager, said “This collection continues to elevate Kmart’s sustainability credentials, with a strong focus on incorporating materials that reduce our environmental footprint. This season, we’re particularly excited about our new swimwear range that incorporates recycled polyester made from reclaimed materials such as unwanted plastic bottles and textile waste. We are reducing our reliance on finite resources as well as keeping waste out of landfill, ensuring our community can shop on-trend styles that are kinder to the planet”.
