THE STYLIST DIARIES | Sunset Vibes
Our Westfield Stylist Georgia breaks down the colour of the season: sunset vibes.
Sunset vibes as we move into the new season: your go to colour palette this Spring/Summer
Goodbye winter and hello spring! We will start to see flowers starting to bloom, the weather starting to heat up and this calls for a colourful wardrobe to take you through Spring/Summer. This season’s trends will be dreamy and mysterious, showing the essence of simple and sophistication, using beautiful hues of enhanced neutrals and bright colours taken from nature.
Mother Nature does know best: nature-inspired colour palettes will dominate fashion and interior design. Think sunset skies, calming neutrals, muted shades of aqua, turquoise and blue as well as dark forest greens and citric yellows.
Focusing on sunset hues, this palette is that beautiful mix of red, orange and fuchsia we sometimes see in the sky at sunset. We started seeing this trend trickle through winter, but it’s being amped up this season. Fiery reds, rusty browns, bright oranges and magentas will be combined with each other, as well as matching sets on their own. You can also think of the colour palettes as a desert, terracotta pots in your backyard, cinnamon sticks and cherries to also help to visualise what this theme is about. Playing with different textures, fabrics and patterns, will also elevate this trend.
For those wanting to update their head-to-toe sunset hue looks with a single piece, opt for something in rust. Like sage, its transeasonal quality, paired with its fresh presence on the trend scene, making it a safe option for investment pieces. You can also accompany accessories worn in almost identical hues.
