THE STYLIST DIARIES | Classic capsule winter wardrobe
Our Westfield Stylist Jules takes you through the steps to building your own capsule wardobe
Why is it important to have a capsule wardrobe?
Building a classic capsule wardrobe is less about a strict set of clothes you must have and more about creating an easy wardrobe where all your pieces work hard for you.
What is the best part of a capsule wardrobe?
You should be able to easily build on this wardrobe each season to effortlessly update and stay on trend. Think about it like a holiday wardrobe for everyday life!
What is the first step to building a capsule wardobe?
The first thing to decide is your base colour. For this autumn/winter black goes with most seasonal shades. Use black and other neutral colours like grey, white, beige/natural, khaki for basic items like jeans, pants, jackets, skirts, outerwear and tees. These colours can all be worn together in different combinations giving you more options with fewer pieces.
How do you make your capsule wardrobe stand out?
Next step…adding colours or print! The easiest way to do this is with tops and accessories. Make sure any patterns you choose have your base colours in them. Animal print is a strong choice for this season and stripes are a timeless classic.
