HeartKids Queensland (HKQ) has been offering hope to families and children affected by Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) for over 30 years.
They fund life changing research into treatment and causes of CHD. HKQ deliver support services to families across Queensland and Northern NSW. The team work alongside the Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service (QPCS) and under a Memorandum of Understanding with Children's Health Queensland.
There are more than 66,000 Australians living with Congenital Heart Disease. Each year in Queensland over 450 children will require lifesaving hospital treatment for a Heart Defect. One in every 100 Australian babies is born with CHD and for 80 percent of these children the cause is unknown.
While HeartKids work towards a life unaffected by CHD, there is still no cure and sadly 4 young Australians die each week. It is their mission to improve the lives and futures of those affected by Congenital Heart Disease, by providing high quality, caring support, information and advocacy and to give hope by driving world class research.
You can donate to HeartKids Qld via the Community collection points throughout the Centre and via the Concierge Desk.
