As Westfield Bondi marks its 20th anniversary, we celebrate not only the success of the centre but also the remarkable stories of those who have contributed to its vibrant history. One such story is that of Shaiful Islam, owner of Lobster Tail Seafood.

Shaiful Islam's journey began in 2002 when he arrived to Australia from Bangladesh with just $450 in his pocket and dreams of a better future. Drawn by the buzz of the new Westfield Bondi flagship —heralded as a new global benchmark for retail—Shaiful sought employment opportunities within this exciting development. He soon landed a casual job at DeCosti's Seafood, which was then making waves from its spot in the Harbouroom on Level 5.

Shaiful's business acumen quickly caught the eye of George DeCosti, who recognized his potential and promoted him to Manager. Under Shaiful's leadership, DeCosti's Seafood continued to thrive. His vision and commitment eventually led him to take over the business, transforming it into the renowned Lobster Tail Seafood we know today.

Reflecting on his journey, Shaiful shares, “It has been a special part of my life. I’ve experienced so many special customer moments and built wonderful lifetime friendships.” His deep connection with his customers is evident, with many returning year after year and even sending gifts during the festive season. Shaiful's dedication to fostering a positive workplace culture and delivering premium quality food and service has made Lobster Tail a staple in the Food Court.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, Shaiful extends his heartfelt gratitude to the Bondi community. “I am proud and honoured to be a part of the Bondi Community, and look forward to many more years of serving our wonderful customers.”
