Get race day ready with Westfield
Spring has sprung, and with that comes the fashion and fun of the Spring Racing Carnival.
I’m Angela Menz, Westfield’s Spring Racing Authority for 2019. Spring Racing season is my favourite time of the year! Victoria comes alive and we can all indulge in non-stop racing and fashion. Join me as I take you on a journey this Spring Racing carnival by sharing my insider tips, tricks and new season trends, to ensure that you have the most exciting and fashionable experience yet.
Over the years I have attended many race days and seen the variation in styles between Australia and overseas, from the conservative elegance of the United Kingdom, through to the laidback cool of France. But in my opinion, Australia is by far the most fashionable, always incorporating the latest trends into racewear, rocking bold colour combinations and taking style risks. This year, I’m most looking forward to seeing shorter hemlines trackside, both challenging and amplifying the common racewear traditions.
Through my Instagram feed @ontrackontrend I’ve been sharing my observations and experiences at the races and have a strong understanding of the do’s and don’ts for taking the latest fashion to the track. Going to the races is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, whether it be branching out with brighter colours, or trying out the more risky trend of the season. Dressing for the races is about dressing with a sense of occasion and adding a little twist to the trends to make them race-day appropriate. Whilst there are some rules for racewear, the most important is to let your own style and personality shine through.
What has made me stand out from the pack when it comes to the Spring Carnival is having an innate understanding of the trends and styles of each race day and the nuances of each one. Every race day has its own mood, energy and style rules to navigate. This Spring Racing Carnival, I’ll be taking you on a journey, along with Westfield Style Authority Paul of Styled By Bloom and Westfield Beauty Authority Jade Kisnorbo of @jade_kmakeup to get know each of the major race days, from the free-spirited Caulfield Cup, to the monochrome themed Derby Day, onto the femininity of Oaks Day and the colour and daring nature of Melbourne Cup Day. We will guide you through the top trends to be seen in, the must have accessories and our insider tricks to getting ready to rock your best look for this season’s Spring Racing Carnival.
