The retail spending of CBD Workers in the immediate catchment of Pitt Street Mall was estimated at AU$926 million in 2008 and is forecast to increase to around AU$1 billion by 2011 ($2008)¹.
Workers in the immediate catchment of Pitt Street Mall are predominantly employed in financial and insurance services or professional, scientific and technical services industries. The people employed in this area also include a large number in the public administration and safety industry and administrative and support services¹.
Tourists
Over 10 million domestic and international tourists visited Sydney in 2007, with an additional 17.1 million day trippers¹.
In the year ending December 2007, the total retail spending of tourists staying within the immediate catchment of Pitt St Mall was estimated at around AU$2.1 billion¹.
