Q. What work is being done as part of the Westfield Sydney redevelopment?

A. There are three key parts to the Westfield Sydney development approved by City of Sydney Council:

- Westfield Sydney retail precinct
- 100 Market Street Tower (commercial offices)
- 85 Castlereagh Street Tower (commercial offices)

Q. When will the Westfield Sydney project be completed?

A. The Westfield Sydney project is scheduled to be completed in 2012.

Q. When the Westfield Sydney retail precinct reopen?

A. The Westfield Sydney retaill precinct is scheduled to be reopened in stages from late 2010 until 2012.

Q. What are the approved hours of work for construction?

A. The approved hours for construction work on the Westfield Sydney site are:

Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm
Saturday 7am - 5pm
Sundays/Public Holidays - No construction works typically occur on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Works may occur on these days from time to time and hours are subject to City of Sydney Council approval.

Q. How many shops are planned?

A. There will be approximately 250 shops in the new centre.

Q. How many car parking spaces will there be?

A. There is no provision for car parking for the retail precinct. 188 tenant car spaces will be available for the commercial towers, along with space for 70 service vehicles, 15 motorbikes and 189 bicycles.

Q. How many jobs will be created?

A. Up to 3,000 construction jobs will be created for the Westfield Sydney project.

A. No. Sydney Tower will remain in place and operational for the duration of the redevelopment and after the project is complete.

The Westfield Centrepoint shopping centre underneath the tower closed for trading at the beginning of February 2009 for construction works to commence.

This area will then be reopened as part of the new Westfield Sydney retail precinct.

The 100 Market Street commercial tower is being significantly refurbished.

Q. Will Pitt Street Mall close as part of the Westfield Sydney redevelopment?

A. No. Pitt Street Mall will remain open to the public throughout the redevelopment. New paving and upgrade works will take place during the latter part of the project.

Q. What shopping centres will remain open throughout the development?

A. Sydney Central Plaza and many individual retailers along Pitt Street Mall will remain open throughout the redevelopment. Myer and David Jones department stores will also remain open for business.

The Sydney Tower Restaurants and bar, Skywalk and Oztrek will remain operational during the redevelopment works.
