CONSTRUCTION

OBJECTIVES


Westfield's objectives throughout the development are to ensure an efficient construction process, with a focus on:

  • Minimising inconvenience to the public, tenants and adjoining owners
  • Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders
  • Exploring and adopting, where appropriate, innovative methods to minimise construction impacts
  • Ensuring the requirements of existing codes and standards are met or exceeded
  • Maintaining a safe environment at all times
  • Providing an efficient construction process that is environmentally responsible

The Sequence of Construction
Early works commenced late 2008, construction in January 2009 and the redevelopment is scheduled to be completed in stages from 2010 until 2012. Further information will be provided through regular construction updates on the web.

Construction Hours
The hours of work for the construction site are:

Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm
Saturday 7am to 5pm
Sundays / Public Holidays work is subject to Council approval.

Some work may be undertaken outside the hours of work above. An application is made to City of Sydney Council and is subject to approval. Copies of permits for approved out of hours works are displayed on the construction site.

From time to time the streets or traffic lanes are temporarily closed while we are undertaking work such as heavy lifts or the erection or dismantling of tower cranes. This is to ensure public safety. Special applications will be made to council for these activities and notice provided to neighbouring landowners.
