Local Community
Get behind your local community on December 1st & 2nd December for Give Ability Day at Westfield Parramatta and support children with disabilities and their families!
Our Westfield Community Program has been providing support for children with disabilities and their families since February 2008 by providing funds for therapy, equipment, respite, early intervention and education programs. Every Westfield centre across Australia has a close partnership with a local children’s disability service provider in their community, giving you the opportunity to make a difference to families in your local areas.
Westfield Parramatta is proud to partner with My Westmead for the upcoming Give Ability Day. It will be a special recreation and respite day for children with disabilities and their families from My Westmeadand they would greatly appreciate support from the local community.
We all have ‘give ability’ - the ability to donate what we can, no matter how big or small, to help make a difference. So please visit Westfield Parramatta and make a donation at Concierge on Level 2 & 4 to help give the ability for kids to take part in fun activities, for respite care so parents and carers can take a break too, or for new programs and facilities to be set up and implemented in your local community.
The Westfield Community Program was launched in early 2008 to address the needs in our local communities. Each Westfield Centre across Australia partners with a local disability service provider to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families.
Westfield Parramatta encourages you to support its local community partner Westmead Medical Research Foundation (www.wmrf.org.au), raising funds for Redbank House.
Redbank House provides psychological treatment, care and schooling at Westmead Hospital for children and adolescents (aged from birth to 18) who are severely emotionally or mentally disturbed.
Families are generally referred to Redbank House if the child's need is so acute that they are not responding to outpatient treatments.
Once at Redbank House, the children and their families have access to a range of programs and tailored psychological care. This care is structured according to the child's age, and to the emotional, psychological and sometimes physical challenges they are facing.
The programs and services at Redbank House are family-oriented, ensuring that children are not treated in isolation from their home environment. This increases the likelihood that they will continue to improve after their treatment at Westmead is complete.
Take Action
