Your Questions Answered...
I have always been conscious of my legs and coming into summer I really struggle on what to wear other than jeans or a long skirt. Could you advise me on some ideas of what I could wear so I don't look like I'm stepping out in winter?
An alternative to jeans is a nice pair of chinos from Witchery or even harem pants which are available at just about every retailer. There is a great pair of harem pants that are really light in Forever New and I picked up a nice khaki pair of harem pants in Sportsgirl. Also really new this season is pantsuits. This is a really nice way of hiding your legs while still being up to date with this season's fashion.
After having my first child, it is taking me some time to get back in shape. What would you suggest I do to hide my baby belly while still keeping up with the latest fashion trends?
At the moment there are a lot of floaty style dresses and tops in a lot of different retailers at Westfield Miranda such as Ice, Portman's and Glue Store. This style can look great alone or dress it up with tights or even over jeans. You can also belt this style and add a cropped jacket to give it a different look again. Another style that is back this season is the kaftan. Just Jeans have a really pretty pink one and General Pants Co. have a divine cream piece with lace detail around the edges. Or just try adding different layers as in a vest or long scarf and jacket to draw the eyes away from your tummy.
I'm heading to the races and have looked for a fun, spring dress to wear but have been unsuccessful in my search. Could you give me some ideas on where I can find the perfect dress, shoes, accessories and headpiece? Also, I want to look fresh and stress free for the day, where would you recommend I go to indulge in some beauty therapy?
To me you just can't go past Diana Ferrari for beautiful race wear. There are so many really pretty dresses with shoes and bags to match as well as coordinating pieces such as skirts with feminine blouses. Stop in at Stylust for a quirky fascinator or even a divine hat. And to finish your outfit off go to Tara Wolf for all your exquisite accessories. There is any number of really good beauticians at Westfield Miranda, such as Fair Beauty Gold to go and be pampered.
I need your advice. I have an eighteen year old daughter who loves wearing tracksuits and jeans. How do I get her to break out and try some of the lovely feminine fashion that is around at the moment?
First of all, we don't want to send your daughter into fashion meltdown. Let's go slow and get her to try on one of the gorgeous floral print dresses in Temt or Glassons at the moment. I know she's going to balk at this but then we are going to add one of the cool khaki utility jackets from Forever New so as to toughen up the floral effect. To top it off we need some combat boots from Payless Shoes, followed up with a leather belt and bag in a tan or neutral colour.
And the great thing about all of these items is you can mix and match with other pieces, even her trackie daks.
I have just read your email newsletter and I have a fashion advice question! My Mum is almost 90, and in November she will be attending her granddaughter's wedding. We have been having some trouble finding a nice outfit for her to wear. We need something semi-formal, elegant, pastel. Any ideas of shops that might cater for her?
It's great that your grandmother is still interested in fashion. My advice for her would be to have a look in Chelsea. They have some gorgeous mix and match pieces that can be worn together or seperately, so she will still get to wear them out after the wedding. Maggie T also have some really nice satin backed pants in store that work really well with their chiffon tops and shirts in gorgeous sorbet colours.
And tell your grandmother not to forget accessories. She can add a fabulous statement neckpeice from Lovisa to a relatively plain blouse and the effect can be dramatic.
I hope she has a lovely time.
