Local Community
Caring for a child can be tough and very challenging. While every child is a joy to their parents, families of children with a disability find simple everyday living more difficult. Financial assistance, respite care - time out and community support can make a world of difference.
The Westfield Community Program was launched in early 2008 to address these needs in our local communities. Each Westfield Centre across Australia partners with a local disability service provider to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families.
Westfield Hornsby is currently updating information on how you can help in your local community. Please visit this page again soon to get inspired and take action.
Northcott Disability Services
Get Inspired
Established in 1929 as The NSW Society for Crippled Children, Northcott Disability Services was founded by The Rotary Club of Sydney to provide for children with tuberculosis and polio. Today, Northcott is one of the state’s leading service providers for people with a broad range of disabilities, supporting more than 6000 children and adults with disabilities, their families and carers across NSW and the ACT.
From early childhood development, through to assisting individuals gain employment and independent living skills during adulthood, to supporting ageing parent carers, Northcott’s provision of services centres on each stage of the changing life cycle. Some people with rare or lesser known disabilities find Northcott to be the only provider of appropriate support and services.
Northcott’s purpose is to build an inclusive society. This is achieved by supporting people with disabilities to develop their skills and achieve their goals - including their potential for independence and ability to participate in their community. For people with disabilities, the support and services Northcott provides can often mean the difference between a life of isolation and segregation and a life of greater self-reliance and confidence.
