The Heart Foundation encourages people to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most, preferably all, days of the week. Health benefits include:

  • Reduces your risk of developing heart disease and stroke
  • Helps to manage weight, blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Can reduce the effects of stress
  • Improves self-esteem and mental health
  • Is low impact (less jarring on the joints)

Looking for somewhere safe, undercover and fun to exercise? Then joining our walking group is the perfect way to integrate this level of activity into your lifestyle.

Twice a week, you'll meet with a qualified YMCA instructor at Westfield Fountain Gate for a walk through the centre before it opens.

It's a great way to meet new friends while you get the blood pumping - and best of all, it's free!

If you're worried that you might not be fit enough, don't worry, it's not a competition - you can walk at your own pace.

Westfield Walkers meet Wednesday and Friday mornings* for warm up exercises at 7.45am, followed by a half hour walk, finishing at 8.45am after cool down exercises.
