Local Community
Caring for a child can be tough and very challenging. While every child is a joy to their parents, families of children with a disability find simple everyday living more difficult. Financial assistance, respite care - time out and community support can make a world of difference.
The Westfield Community Program was launched in early 2008 to address these needs in our local communities. Each Westfield Centre across Australia partners with a local disability service provider to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families.
Westfield Figtree encourages you to support its local community partner Para Meadows Special School.
Para Meadows Special School
Get Inspired
Para Meadows Special School provides individualised education programs for students with an intellectual disability, from kindergarten to year twelve (K-12). Each student has an outcomes-based individualised program that is designed in consultation with the parents and other support agencies.
Para Meadows offers opportunities for therapy support, integration and transition to post-school life. School priorities include student wellbeing programs, assistive and supportive technology, communication programming, multi-sensory education, performing arts and individualised programming within the K-12 syllabus frameworks.
The school endeavours to support families to access several services needed to support student and family wellbeing including therapy services, respite, variations to transport to and from home, help from non-government support services and financial support from other charitable organisations.
