MOOKS unveil Autumn/Winter styles

Creative directors 'The Easy Girls’ have once again taken the reigns to capture the MOOKS 2010 Autumn/Winter collection from Berlin. Shot over three days by photographer Steve Ryan, find out how the girls met their challenge head-on and captured this amazing new range - now available through the MOOKS online store.

When MOOKS came to us several months ago, proposing another collaboration for their winter range. We cranked our Easy brains into gear and started brainstorming how to tackle what would become our most beautiful shoot ever.

Almost immediately, the answer seemed simple, David Lynch films with a '70s horror theme - perfect!

We came up with a concept that gave a nod to Mr. Lynch and his Twin Peak eeriness, as well as some of the old '70s slasher films, brimming with intrigue and suspense. Or, as much suspense as we could take while "researching" the films through the holes of crocheted knee rugs, as we're easily scared."

The concept was developed using three characters; our interesting yet handsome couple, and a mystery third member, a voyeur, obscured, yet watching and documenting the couples every move. Our couple head off to a cabin (or incredibly bizarre loft somewhere in the forest), to enjoy a weekend escape. As they carry on with what they assume to be their comfortable solitude, an unexpected guest crashes their party.

The concept allowed for a changing dynamic in the shots - some relaxed kind of snap shots that would suggest our couple took shots of each other and then the voyeurs as a sort of surveillance of the scene, building the drama of the images.

The range from MOOKS this winter season was to reflect an edge of collegiate rock 'n roll, a comfortable, cool, urban collection that embodies the self-assured, stylish wearer.

A decision was made to cast (obviously beautiful) yet slightly bizarre models as our characters. Max, with his strong almost Lion-like features and Luisa, a graceful and somewhat doe-eyed beauty. Both Max and Luisa were great to work with and encapsulated their roles providing shots, we believe, speak for themselves.

The rest of our production team, including photographer Steve Ryan, make-up artist Bettina and Natalie & Alex assisting Steve, made for a wonderfully energetic and enjoyable shoot. Rest assured everyone was delighted with the MOOKS Winter 2010 collection.

MOOKS is located at Shop 2031, level 2 Westfield Bondi Junction.
