Dressing for the party season

T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not an outfit was working not even your favourite blouse.

Sound familiar? With countless cocktail parties, work functions and family catch-ups, avoid the stress of Christmas dressing and stay on Santa's 'good list' by following a few simple steps.

Christmas is a wonderful time to dress up and toast the end of a good year with a glass of your favourite sparkling, and this season it's all happening! Sequins, sparkles, and bright bursts of colour, you name it - we love it!

Embracing colour is an absolute must this Christmas. Don't be afraid to move outside your comfort zone and take a refreshing step back from conservative office shades by incorporating cool bursts of colour into your outfit. Try a glamorous silk frock with bold shoulder detailing, and don't be afraid of feminine frills.

Accessorising can be difficult; more so during Christmas when festive themed jewellery is in abundance. Avoid being mistaken for the Christmas tree and stick with more classic ensembles; such as the ever-reliable strapless dress with a pair of chandelier earrings.

Appropriate outfitting is key. While you might be out of the office, attending a work Christmas party does not mean that you should abandon important dress codes.

HOT TIP: Always maintain an appropriate hemline; short-short dresses should only be paired with long-long legs. If you weren't blessed with the legs of Makybe-Diva then don't panic; 50's chic is very on-trend and is a great option when trying to maintain a demure, work-appropriate persona. Steer clear of low cut outfits, as your neckline may not be the only thing plunging.

And ladies, if you find that your Christmas splurge has resulted in some unfortunate purchases, remember - 'tis the season to be Santa!
