This season’s femme fatale takes a style cue from her more masculine counterpart.
With a sharp, feminine take on traditional tailoring with a relaxed yet chic style, it's all about walking the androgynous line with attitude and confidence. We take a look at some of the key elements to this trend and staples you can add to your wardrobe to mix it with the boys this season.
Take it to the boardroom:
Suiting and blazers experiment with slouchier, yet streamlined tailoring playing with double-breasted jackets, sleeveless tuxedo vests, tweeds and pinstripes. The long lines of this season's smoking jacket keeps a feminine style with narrow, fitted arms and a boxier fall. Pants are either fitted, cigarette or cropped to balance out the baggier tops, or slouchy and flowing with a more fitted blouse, shirt or cropped jacket.
Masculine Coat
Overcoats for winter are either super slouchy or sharp and fitted this winter. The slouchier, pod coat made an appearance last year with its smart yet relaxed man-style shape showing its versatility over jeans and boots as well as pairing with a girlie dress and preppy heels. Embellished or deconstructed trench coats can sharpen up any look with statement lapels or epaulettes and buttoning.
Loving Loafers
With the smoking jacket on top, it only stands to reason that the slipper-style loafer makes a big entrance this season. The oh-so-comfortable slip-on comes in a gamut of prints, colours, textures and even with a touch of luxury this season to add a feminine chic to and essentially masculine shoe. These loafers work beautifully with denim, cropped trousers or high-waisted pants. Try a bright colour, studded finish or toe-cap to add a statement to your footwear. For a more casual weekend look, try a beautifully finished riding boot, leggings or skinny jeans and your over-sized blazer.
Heavy on the Accessories
Chunky watches, powerful satchels, tablet or laptop cases with attitude and structured handbags to replace the soft totes of last year. Add a preppy frame or statement glasses to your look for a geek-chic touch to your androgynous dressing.
