Apple: Wardrobe Basics

Share |

Luscious Apples are naturally rounder in the mid-section, so selecting a wardrobe full of staples that help to draw attention to their upper body will make for confident dressing this winter. Empire lines, or tops that are fitted up underneath the bust are a must for Apples to flatter the larger section of your waist. Embellished tops or jackets with attitude in the shoulder area are a great way of broadening the top-half. Statement shoulders, luxe decoration and structured and beautifully tailored jackets are a perfect way of achieving this balance.

Alongside broadening your shoulders, Apples should strike an hourglass balance with the appearance of a smaller waist by creating the look of curvier hips. Straight legged jeans are a perfect casual staple for Apples, or try a flat-fronted trouser for work or a dressier occasion. Skirts may have a slightly wider waistband to ramp up that hourglass shape, while the length should fall at the knee or just below. A big body shape no-no for Apples are skinny jeans or pants – no matter how on-trend they might be, this is all about dressing for YOUR shape, not anyone else’s.

Trench coats are great for Apples to disguise the mid-section while balancing out shoulders and hips with a wide collar and knee-length hemline. Wear undone, with the belt tied loosely at the back for a more casual feel while still disguising your middle.

Accessories play a huge role in drawing attention towards the areas of focus for an Apple, so go for a fabulous pair of heels or wedges to balance out proportions and add a gorgeous clutch, bags and statement necklace to focus that attention on your upper-half. Steer clear of skinny belts.
