Trend Report: Shimmer & Shine Autumn Winter 2012
Shimmer and shine is one of the major trends of the coming autumn/winter season courtesy of Westfield. Think metallic's, sequins, embellishment and reflective fabrics in dresses, tops and skirts. Go for a hint of shimmer with metallic gold or silver shoes if you want to test this trend or, if you're brave, opt for reflective sequins all over in the form of a shift or cocktail dress.
Drawing inspiration from Versace's fall/winter collection shown last week during Milan Fashion Week, it's clear that this trend is not for the wallflower. Take a leaf out of Donatella's book and mix and match your high shine pieces with black, ivory or other bold colours, like Dijon yellow. If you do opt for an all-over reflective fabric, keep your hair sleek and simple but add smoky kohl-defined eyes to complete the total look.
This is a daring and standout look but luckily, thanks to the likes of Steve Madden, Wittner, Sass & Bide and Zimmermann, among others, this trend is accessible and easy to wear in small or large doses. A gold sequinned clutch or embellished shoes are a great way to ease this trend into your wardrobe, as well as chokers and chunky necklaces, which be huge this coming season. A shimmery blazer will take you from work to bar seamlessly and even a just a sweep of metallic eye shadow by Napoleon can be just enough to work this trend into your everyday style
