He Wears Short, Shorts

This summer takes a two-fold approach to men's shorts - you're either in the smart, tailored short camp or over the fence in the casual corner. Either way, a man can never have too many pairs of shorts for summertime and Westfield fashion takes a look at styling up your shorting selections for all occasions.

Dolce and Gabbana set the trend for a Sicilian style summer where the Sunday best spills over into tailored shorts pared with fitted shirts, belts and loafers. It's the Riviera set, darling...think linens, cottons and other natural fibers in smart cuts, slightly shorter lengths and varying degrees of fit against the body. Aim for that just stepped off your yacht allure, and you'll be on the boardwalk to working the preppy look with aplomb.

Checks are back also for a more college-preppy cool. Go for a smaller, less ostentatious check that will look smart with a pair of canvas plimsoles, brogues and messenger bag.  This smarter option is a great choice for city dressing or a lunch date.

Denim cut-offs are a solid staple for men and this year, coloured denim flows over from winter into summery pastels - yes, pastels for men. Ice cool denim or cotton are great with a white or bright tee, striped tank and sandal or flip flop to go from beach to bar.

Board shorts are where you can have some fun this summer with bright colours, geometric and even floral prints making a splash at the beach. Short board shorts make a strong comeback this year in keeping with the European tradition, so bare if you dare!
